A quick non-stick surface for under your glue-up projects

When glueing up panels and the like, we have enough to worry about already. Applying the right amount of glue, aligning the boards, juggling clamps. All during a limited range of time before the glue starts to set up. It doesn't help that glue runout will make the workpiece stick to the workbench later on.

Easy solution: place a piece of 6-mil poly film beneath the glueup assembly. This keeps the squeeze-out glue off your table top. When dry, just lift up the workpiece. The poly will peel right off as wood glue doesn't stick to it very well.

[Note: this may not work well if you use polyurethane or epoxy adhesives. Your mileage may vary.]

6-mil poly sheeting
Cut a piece of poly sheeting a little larger than your workpiece.
clamping
Place underneath, glue and clamp. Poly sheeting will peel off when the glue is dry.
