Simple Dust And Chip Catcher Pan for A Mini Lathe

When turning workpieces on my mini lathe, I noticed that a fair amount of the bigger chips and shavings are not drawn away by the dust collector, dropping below instead. They are then hard to get at later during cleanup. The solution: slide a tray below the lathe. I used an old cafeteria serving tray, but any shallow pan or cardboard lid would work just as well. After a session of wood turning, just slide the tray back out and empty.

Slide the tray under the lathe.

Will collect much of the fallen chips and shavings.
